Tanner Mini Reviews! (Slender: The Arrival, Cinderella (Live Action), Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water)

My life is ruled by a vicious cycle of reading academic journals, studying, writing, or grading papers. The life of a grad student is kicking my ass to be sure. I find myself behind once again, so in order to rectify this, I am going to one of my mini review sections. This is where I do a couple of games/movies and write a quick write up and score for them. I usually save this for the end of the year before my best and worst list. But for now, I’ll blow my load and start recreating that list for later. For now, I hope you enjoy these and thank you for your understanding! You guys are awesome!

Slender_The_Arrival_website_logoSlender: The Arrival

The game that was the answer to the massive success of the mini game, Slender: The Arrival is a true horror experience. It is one of those games that lead a new wave of horror themed games along with Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Minimalistic story telling, the lack of any means to defend yourself, and a first person perspective make the game immersive and terrifying. It is far from perfect, the graphics aren’t great, the controls are a little too sensitive for my taste, and the increase in the story kind of loses the mystique of the mini game… But overall a fun playthrough.

Final Score: 3/5

Cinderella_2015_official_posterCinderella (2015 Live Action)

This was a movie that featured all the people who died on Game of Thrones in a shot for shot live action remake of the classic Disney Fairy Tail. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Cinderella is a classic story and there are very few ways you can fuck it up… But at the same time, there are very few new things you can do with it either. If you have seen the animated version, you have already seen this movie… So if you want to rewatch that but live action, by all means check it out. But honestly, if you have seen the animated one, you have already seen what you need to see.

Final Score 2.5/5

SB-2_posterSpongebob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water

I can chalk this one up to one sentence. Sponge Out of Water is a well animated, well made, and enjoyable movie that will mean absolutely nothing to anyone who isn’t already a fan of the television show. Spongebob Squarepants is a pretty iconic character, all things considered, and at this point any movie that gets a full theatrical release is just courting the hardcore fans to put in their money. For those who are fans of the series, it is a must see. But if you are not a fan or barely seen it, it isn’t worth your time.

Final Score 2.5/5

Thank you for reading and as always if you enjoyed this review, please like and subscribe for more. Thank you for being patient with me. Life is truly a hectic one right now and I’m trying to get back on that set schedule. Hopefully this will be happening soon.

  1. I haven’t played any of the Slender games, as I am not usually a fan of horror. That said I recently enjoyed Until Dawn on the PS4.
