Seeing as how the popularity of my site has expanded to the point that I get message/comments on a more than a semi-sporadic occasion, I feel like it is time to add a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ page to kind of answer a few questions in advance before people send me a private message on Twitter or an email. So for your benefit, my FAQs.
1: Will You Review *Insert title here*?: The most obvious of questions should be at the top of the list. This is probably the question that most critics receive on a regular basis and I have been no exception. Typically, I am very much open to suggestions. Considering my review base is large, I am not as constrained by limits as other critics on the internet. So yes, if you have a particular movie, video game, or series that you would like to see than by all means send them to me and I will take them under advisement. The worst you will get from me is a ‘No’ and even then, I’ll still be willing to talk to you about the given piece.
2: Would You Be Willing to Promote Our Site in Exchange We Do a Plug for You?: This one is really touch and go and it is completely dependent upon who you are, what your site is about, and how well I know you. Naturally, if I am familiar with your work and we are in the similar categories of reviewing/entertaining, then sure I would be more than happy to promote a fellow critic on my site. However, what I WILL NOT do is shell out for a website that is engaging in under handed dealings and/or trying to make a quick buck by scamming people into buying cheap crap. I do try to hold myself to a strong moral compass and am willing to miss out on the X number of views on my site to keep my site off of a glorified and sleazier version of Craigslist. So please, think before you send me a message on this one.
3: Can I Contribute to Your Site?: Simple answer, no. This site is mine and I am not looking to have other contributors in any capacity. I have had a few guests post on my site and for them, it is more of a ‘don’t call me, I’ll call you’ type of arrangement. I am planning on creating a larger parent site for multiple contributors to join and we will cross that bridge when we get there. But as far as Tanner Reviews is concerned, it remains firmly in the realm of ‘Tanner Only’.
4: Will You Be Going to (X) Convention?: I will be honest, I have only received this question a few times but I feel it is one that will increase as this site grows. Thus, I will answer it now. Typically speaking, I attend a handful of cons that is centered around the area that I live in Ohio. Ohayocon, Rathacon, Origins Game Fair, and Mysticon are the cons that you will typically find me in attendance (dependent on my schedule/funds). Other than that, the answer will most likely be no. I’m not the wealthiest individual so the concept of traveling too far from home is difficult to say the least. Maybe this will change in the future, but for now I’m not straying too far from the nest for a nerdfest.
Please leave feedback. I would love to hear from you.
