Tanner Reviews Tremors 5: Bloodlines

downloadSome of you may be aware, I am a big fan of the movie series Tremors. What started out as a horror comedy monster movie featuring Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward as made a nice little niche for itself with some of the most solid sequels and franchises that I have ever seen. Thanks to a small, but fervent fanbase and actors from the original movie willing to champion the cause, Tremors has become a surprising brand with five movies and a TV Series under its belt. Just last month, the franchise released its newest movie, Tremors 5: Bloodlines and since I am in the movie criticism business, it is a prime target for my analytical destruction and destruction it shall be! I am not going to sit here and bash the fifth installment of this movie, it actually isn’t that bad. This is especially true when you consider the fact that by the fifth installment of a franchise, the movies tend to suck and suck hard. But all things considered, this movie is certainly one of the weak points within the franchise. Continue reading “Tanner Reviews Tremors 5: Bloodlines”

Tanner Mini Reviews! (Slender: The Arrival, Cinderella (Live Action), Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water)

My life is ruled by a vicious cycle of reading academic journals, studying, writing, or grading papers. The life of a grad student is kicking my ass to be sure. I find myself behind once again, so in order to rectify this, I am going to one of my mini review sections. This is where I do a couple of games/movies and write a quick write up and score for them. I usually save this for the end of the year before my best and worst list. But for now, I’ll blow my load and start recreating that list for later. For now, I hope you enjoy these and thank you for your understanding! You guys are awesome! Continue reading “Tanner Mini Reviews! Tanner Reviews The Visit

The_Visit_(2015_film)_posterLadies and gentlemen, M. Night Shyamalan is back! Oh yes, the man who brought us movies like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable is back to winning form, far removed from his recent horrendous movies that include the likes of The Last Airbender, The Village, After Earth, and The Happening. Shyamalan has brought us the type of horror movie that we expect from someone of his caliber of filmmaking.

Sadly, Shyamalan is one of those guys who has become somewhat of a joke in recent years with his laundry of terrible movies that stray from any sense of reality into the realms of just… What the fuck? I, myself, have been left time and time again scratching my head after watching a Shyamalan movie or at the worst, laughing my ass off at the unintentional comedy that they can bring. But I can safely say after watching The Visit that Shyamalan not only took the criticism dealt at him, but used it to fuel his fires, and make a low-budget movie that will keep you laughing and screaming every step of the way.

Ten Movies and Video Games to Keep an Eye on for 2015

As we roll into 2015 I decided to try something a little different this year. While I was going through the 2015 in Film and 2015 in Video Gaming for this year, I thought wouldn’t it be interesting to make a list of both video games and movies that we can keep an eye on for 2015. So with that in mind I have decided to include 5 video games and 5 movies that are hyped for the 2015 season. Odds are if they are making this list then you will see a review on them from me coming up.

Just to keep in mind these lists are my own personal opinion based on the hype of the masses and how much attention, both positive and negative these games and movies will receive in 2015. Keep in mind THIS LIST IS NOT ITEMS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING! That is a completely different list. This list is a collection of games and movies that I feel will cause quite a stir when they are released and are something, as the title suggests that we should keep an eye on as we march forward into the new year. Also keep in mind when it comes to video games that the game does not have to be released in 2015 but can be a rerelease or a remastering to make the list. With that being said, let’s start with the video games. Continue reading “Ten Movies and Video Games to Keep an Eye on for 2015”
