Tanner Reviews Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

rogue_one_a_star_wars_story_posterSorry it is late… But I just watched Rogue One this weekend… AND YES! As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I have to say that after watching this movie, I am 100% satisfied with where the franchise is going and just wish that all of the prequels were like Rogue One. Is it a perfect movie? No. There are certainly some flaws to it and it certainly doesn’t compete with other movies in the Star Wars Universe post prequels, but ultimately it finds itself as a solid middle of the pack offering. But do not let that be a down! A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and YES The Force Awakens are all classics. So competing with them is no easy task.

Rogue One is the story of a young woman named Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). She is the daughter of Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), the man who built the Death Star and made the Death Star the unstoppable force that it was… Also the guy who put in the design flaw but we will get there. After years of running, Jyn is forced to face her demons between her father and is forced into assisting the Rebel Alliance in their struggle against the Galactic Empire. Along with a ragtag group of scoundrels, Jyn and company must uncover the secret of the Death Star and save the galaxy. Continue reading “Tanner Reviews Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

5 Deaths that Devastated Fandoms

It is a sad fact of life, but where there is a fandom of fervent fans who absolutely love a TV show, movie series, or video game… There is going to be deaths so tragic that it just brings a tear to your eye at the mere sound or sight of their name. Those characters that will always be remembered tragically and with contempt for the creators for taking our beloved treasures away from us. This list is to commemorate 5 of those characters who left us with a void in our heart that simply could not be replaced.

So here are the Rules
One character per franchise. Harry Potter has a plethora of tragic deaths… But only one can be chosen.
The character has to stay dead or have a complete character redesign.
There is no rhyme or reason to this list. It is just ten characters whose deaths hurt the most.
If I missed someone from your favorite fandom, I’ll be honest it might just be because I missed it… Or I just don’t care about that particular fandom.
There are spoilers from this point on. So if you get upset… Oh well, not my problem. Continue reading “5 Deaths that Devastated Fandoms”

Tanner Reviews Firefly

FireflyopeninglogoSo guess whose birthday is tomorrow?… Of course it would be this guy! Yep, my birthday is tomorrow and in honor of it I thought I would take it a little easy this Tuesday and review one of my favorite all be it short-lived television shows of all time, Firefly. Yes, once again I let my nerd flag fly high and proud as I will freely admit to my extreme admiration for the 2001 Science Fiction show produced and written by a young Joss Whedon. The fourteen episode long cult classic had the misfortune of falling into the black pit of despair that is the Fox Line Up and has since found quite a cult following from fans that have led to many calling for a revival of the series and the creation of the feature-length movie Serenity.
