It is that time of the year again. 2014 is coming to a close and 2015 is just on the horizon. With that comes a whole new list of video games and movies for me to watch. 2014 has been a year of tops and turns for me. But just like 2013 I feel like as we come to an end, it would be a great idea to give a handful of mini reviews of video games and movies from 2014 just to get as many out there as possible for the best and worst of 2014 (that I personally reviewed. Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Only Play Independent Video Games

Let’s face it, video gaming in general is in some dire straits. I don’t know if it is necessarily at its worst… But we are certainly not in a place that we need to be right now when it comes to those games we love to play. As Triple A developers and publishers continue to grow and spend unnecessary amounts of money in order to create the same schlock over and over again, the Independent Developing companies are looked to find a little variety within the monotony… So basically they are becoming the new age film industry. Well I guess this is what we can come to expect now. But as the big business of video games continues to inflate on its own ego to its inevitable collapse, we as gamers cannot be deterred from playing some of our favorite past times. So needless to say if Triple A keeps getting bigger, well Indie gaming quickly becomes where we as a community should flock to. So without further ado, I give to you the Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Only Play Independently Developed Video Games!

Keep in mind before we get started that this is my own list based on my opinion. This opinion has been generated by my observations on the video game industry and the video game community. I welcome all debate and disagreements, that is part of the fun of having this website in the first place. Continue reading “Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Only Play Independent Video Games”

Tanner’s Resident Evil Retrospective: RE: Survivor

250px-RE_Survivor_frontI have not been looking forward to this day at all. Leading up to this point Resident Evil was one of the most solid franchises around. With three fantastic games under their belt it felt like nothing could go wrong with the series… And then the Gun Survivor series came out and pretty much butt fucked that whole idea. While many people have been picking on RE6 and Operation: Raccoon City… (Myself included) these games seem to get a free pass and it isn’t because they are good or got a lot of bad flack that they didn’t deserve. These games blow and blow harder than any $2 whore. But on top of all that they are completely forgetable. With the exception of fans of the series I doubt any casual gamer even knows of their existence and with the fact that the original characters from these games never appear again in any of the future games it can be assumed by me at least that CAPCOM felt so ashamed of them that they want them to stay in the twisted world of obscurity where they belong. I feel bad enough pulling them back out of the ‘Things Best Left Dead’ section of my closet but this is a retrospective so I suppose they need to be covered… So let’s do it.
