imagesWe continue our look at the championship belts that have graced the halls of the WWE with a notorious midcard belt that could have been something interesting and instead fizzled out as the poorer man’s Intercontinental Championship. What started out as a cool concept of a title that would be defended on European soil and showcase more of the European born talent in the WWE quickly turned into nothing more than a championship belt to be tossed around by the lower mid carders to fight over before it was eventually merged into the IC title in the early 2000’s. The European Championship may have fizzled out but that does not mean that the title did not have it share of famous and infamous people to lift the strap. WWE Specials: Best and Worst Light Heavyweight Championship

WWF_Light_Heavyweight_beltWe continue our special on the WWE and their past and current championships with one of the most underutilized titles to ever appear on WWE television, the WWE Light Heavyweight Championship. Talk about wasted potential, To give some of my readers a little backstory, during the Monday Night Wars between WWE’s RAW and WCW’s Nitro, WCW had a new and exciting division known as the Cruiserweight division. Some of the greatest stars from Mexico and Japan as well as wrestlers from the USA came to WCW to show off some amazing and innovative moves. The division was a smashing success and wrestlers the likes of Rey Mysterio, Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis, Chris Jericho, Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, and many more made their mark in the division. WWE Specials: Best and Worst WWE Hardcore Champions

WWEhardcorebeltFor anyone who doesn’t know I am actually a casual pro wrestling fan. I loved it whenever I was a child… Just like every other child when I come to think of it and as an adult I have learned to respect the craft and the art that is professional wrestling. It is an entertaining show and the things that wrestlers do to entertain the masses is staggering when you stop to think about it. They put their bodies on the line and in most cases shorten their lives extensively in order to entertain the people at home watching the show. I may not be a hardcore fan, but I do certainly enjoy it and watch it whenever I can. Of course one of the things synonymous with wrestling is championship belts. Variety truly is the spice of life and there are countless numbers of belts that promotions have used in the past to display their champions, tag champions, women’s champions, and so forth.
