I FINALLY got back to the movie theater. While I plan to go to see Alien: Covenant this week since I am a glutton for punishment and watching everything I love die, I did get a chance to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so that makes me happy. What more can really be said about Guardians of the Galaxy at this point? It is easily the best franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I will challenge anyone that says otherwise. The story is great, the chemistry is there, and overall it is just an amazing movie. Vol 2 does have a few problems with it on a minuscule level. More importantly the comedy and competing with the first movie which was more than likely the best in the franchise. But overall, it was a fun experience.
The movie is a much more quiet movie compared to the first one is much more of an introspection on a number of characters in the franchise. In the movie, we learn of Starlord’s (Chris Pratt) father and a lot of his past. Continue reading “Tanner Reviews Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”
On this episode of NTSOE, I am joined by Fiona Kelly, Nick Uroseva, and Tom Goldthwait from Derailed Games. On this episode, we discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the ten movies (as of this date) that make them up! I hope you all enjoy some witty banter and some great information on the MCU!
Thanks again to my wonderful girlfriend Kitty who is the proud owner of an X-Box One to allow me to play some of the games that she has bought over the year. My last trek has left me with a strong impression of today’s subject, Disney Infinity: Marvel Superheroes. An action and adventure sandbox game, this interesting look into the future of gaming includes little figurines that you place on a port to play as the given character or use a certain level. After giving the game a little go, I have to say that it was quite a rewarding experience and one I had a great deal of fun playing.
Disney Infinity: Marvel Superheroes doesn’t have a lot of a plot per say as much as it has an open sandbox world with several quests along the way to give a try. You get to play as some of your favorite Marvel and Disney characters dependent upon which of the figurines you have at your disposal. You adventure around the city and enjoy life as a superhero, saving lives, or just fucking with people. The choice is really up to you. Now we come to one of my favorite times of the year! It is time to countdown the best films of 2014! I kind of felt a little like a slouch this year for not being able to see any of the big films for 2014 one of which is Interstellar that still kills me I didn’t get to watch. But after looking at the Oscar Season and lack luster feel of 2014, I feel like I didn’t really miss much so if there is some extra special omissions this year, I apologize. 2015 you will find me at the movies a lot more frequently. But for now we will look at the Best Films that I reviewed on Tanner Reviews.
Keep in mind if the intro did not give it away, these are films that I have personally reviewed for 2014. There may have been a film that was the Citizen Kane or Plan 9 from Outer Space of our generation this year, but if I didn’t see it and review it then sadly it cannot make the list. With that said, let’s have a look at the Top 5 and an honorable mention. Continue reading “The Best Films of 2014”
