Top 4 Reasons Why We Need to Shut Up About Twilight

Guess what everyone? Twilight sucks. I have broken absolutely no new ground by saying that. In fact, by the time this is posted in 2014, the stick I used to womp the what used to be rotting carcass of a dead horse has been worn so thin that I can use it as a tooth pick. The once carcass of said dead horse has also been reduced to little more than a gelatinous pile of festering organs and bruised skin. It is to the point now that it is just an accepted fact of life to the point that anyone with a differing opinion on the matter is chastised into oblivion. Believe me, I am not the person who is going to pick up that torch, jump on my high horse, and defend the series. No, I have made it clear in my review of The Host that I believe the series is very bad and I just like all of you reading this article can list with me all the reasons why Twilight is a bad series. But! For the love of all that is good and decent in this world if I see one more stupid picture that says ‘Still a Better love story than Twilight’, I am going to lose my calm.

If nobody else will say it, than please let me be the one to say it. We get it, we understand. Twilight sucks, a llama making love to a grapefruit is a better love story, you won internet. You can go home now. But what kind of person would I be to just leave it there? Allow me to count the ways on why we need to let this series die.

Before we get started, please keep in mind this is my personal opinion. If you have a differing opinion, please leave them in the comments. Also, keep in mind I AM NOT DEFENDING THE SERIES! If I were to score the movies on my regular scale then they would fall into the 0.5 – 2 area, dependent upon each movie. I do not think the series is a good series, I personally do not enjoy the story. It is not my cup of tea. With that in mind, let’s get to the list. The Car Wash… OF DOOM

Finally! After fighting with my electronics for what felt like an eternity, I have finished and posted my latest review, Transformers Issue 31: The Car Wash of Doom. I am happy to report, I actually got a temp job recently and can now afford to get better equipment then the stuff that I have to work with now. So this means that soon the quality of my work will improve considerably! I plan to buy some of the best equipment I can to ensure that I can provide for all of you the best quality that you all deserve from me.

But I digress, on to the review! Overall I think this is definitely one of my best reviews to this date. I do believe I made some really excellent points about the comic book. I also was able to get in a couple of really good jokes in the process.  Issue 31 of the Transformers comic is by far one of if not THE most surreal of the Transformers comics that was put out by Marvel and I think I did a really nice job proving that. But I’ll let the review to speak for that. Please watch it at the link below.

I do think there were some areas that I could improve on, nothing in this world is perfect. One problem is my crappy movie editing software did not come with photo editing thus a lot of the pictures appear a little bit small. Plus I do not have a photocopier so I had to take individual pictures of most of the pictures for the comic book which was rather tedious. I am not making excuses but merely pointing out that I acknowledge my flaws and will learn from my mistakes. But these are also rather little flaws in the grand scheme of things, the video is still rock solid in my opinion.

So things to look forward to in the future. As I mentioned in my last post I do have new characters on the way, a Tanner Tries Review, and tis the season to be spooky. Personally, I can’t think of a better way then to review a movie centered around some spooky ghosts… Ghostbusters 2! You can look forward to these and more in the future. Thank you for reading and stay posted for more of Tanner Reviews the World.

Agatha Christie and Why My Computer Hates Me

Yeah… This is how I feel about my computer.

I am happy to report that I just posted my most recent video to my site. It is a book review on one of my favorite authors and favorite books for that matter, Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express.

Now the review itself I thought turned out really well.  I thought I portrayed the book in a very positive light and gave it the review that a story of its caliber deserves. The book is after all, one of the best murder mystery novels out there and underrated for the quality that really goes into it.

But I can’t give too much away. If you wish to watch the review please check it out here:

I also decided to go with a new look for my wardrobe. My original look I felt was too “college friendly”  and I must evolve my look in order to portray the place in my life I am at. Personally I quite enjoy the black dress shirt and blue jeans. It has a look of professionalism but with a little bit of a care free attitude.

However there was a problem I am ashamed to report. You see this review was scheduled for next week and the review this week was suppose to be a Transformers Comic Book Review and it would be finished now if my computer didn’t hate my existence.

One of the biggest hurdles that I have had to leap on this journey is my lack of a budget and “sub-par” equipment to work with. Now I know all people cannot start off with the best equipment in the business but still, I wish I could get a bone thrown here. My DVD burning software is good, my camera is decent, and my tripod is… Well a tripod.

The problem comes with my poor old laptop and my sub-par movie editing software. My laptop has reached the age of five and is in the twilight years of its life while the movie editing software I purchased can only be considered a few steps above Windows Movie Maker. It crashes often which means I have to save as quickly as possible to make sure I don’t lose my progress AND in the process of creating video files the audio will go haywire.

Hopefully I will be getting a little influx of cash soon in order to purchase a new laptop and a new movie editing software. Until then I guess I will have to continue beating my head against a wall and flipping the bird to Nero’s sub-par software.

But I will keep on pushing forward. After all the really good things in life are things that you have to fight for and I am not going to give up just because of a few minor problems.

You can look forward to seeing my Transformers Comic Review next week.

Thanks for reading.

My first blog and a look into why I do what I do

This is me during a game of Humans vs. Zombies, a story of which you can see in one of my videos.

Hello and welcome to my blog. If you are reading this odds are you have watched my videos and want to know more about what I do and why I do it.

I want to personally say thank you for taking interest in my journey or at least taking a passing glance.

So here is my story:

I’m 22 years old, a recent college graduate from Ohio University, and I have always been one of those people who annoyed their friends with their constant nitpicking of various movies, television shows, video games, and so forth.

One day while I was browsing through internet I came across a video by Brad Jones’ character the Cinema Snob and was immediately enamored with the world of internet reviews. After a year I was hooked on videos of internet reviewers from all over the world and while I was watching them I said to myself one thing: “Wow… It looks like they are having so much fun. Maybe I should give it a shot.”

So I set to work, to attempt to make my own review web series. However there was one problem… Whenever I watched these reviews each of these critics had their own area of expertise. Whether it was Anime, Comic Books, Nostalgic Movies, Video Games, Board Games, and so on, they all had this area that they were specialized in… But I didn’t.

I have always been an opinionated person and delved in each of these forms of media… But I never was in it long enough to become an expert at it. I watch anime but not nearly enough as your standard anime fan, I love to collect comic books but there are only a few series that I really fanatically collect, I play some video games but I can hardly be considered a gamer, and even though I was a huge movie snob I only took a few video classes and my degree is nowhere close to film studies.

So what is an opinionated guy who wants to create videos to entertain people, but has no really strong area of expertise to do? Well at first I created a really terrible character who I quickly trashed after realizing he was an utter failure.

After collecting myself and my thoughts I set to work for a second time… And I said, “I don’t have to be the King of any one area, I can be a Jack of all trades.”

So I decided to review it all. My web series, Tanner Reviews the World is my creation where I give my opinion on anything that I find that deserves a review. I don’t pretend to be an expert, because I’m not an expert.

I do believe the internet critic Linkara said it best “We are all critics, whenever you purchase something you are critiquing it.”

I am giving my opinions for the world to see in the hopes that you are entertained and can be enlightened by my opinions.

Thank you for following me on my journey to become an internet reviewer and I hope you continue to enjoy my work for years to come.
