So, I have been working on this damn game for weeks and I am going to be honest, I am tired of waiting. I was able to pick up Pokemon Uranium, a fan made game based on the Game Freak license, and have been having a good time playing it since I got it. Seriously, for anyone out there who likes Pokemon, please go find a friend who has it so you can get the files from them. As far as fan made games are concerned, this thing is at least worth a once over. But after becoming stuck for the umpteenth time grinding, I have decided to go ahead and write the review of this game while I am still most of the way complete. So I’m going to ask you to keep that fact in mind as I go into detail here. Continue reading “Tanner Reviews Pokemon Uranium”
So considering the resurgence of Pokemon in my life, I realized that I never did a list of my favorite Pokemon of all time. So why not start today? These are my all time favorite Pokemon!
Now I will stress a few things. First and foremost, this is my own opinion, obviously, and do not have a direct correlation with the greatest Pokemon. If you want that, go check out that post I made about three years ago. Second, my childhood centers around first and second generation Pokemon. As such, this will be first and second generation heavy. Sorry, thems the breaks. With that said, let’s start with some honorable mentions. Continue reading “Top Ten Favorite Pokemon”
I did promise no more Pokemon Go articles. But I never promised that I would stop writing Pokemon articles in general… Well okay, maybe I did about three years ago when the sheer amount of opinions I got from them somewhat irritated me. But that is beside the point. I thought to myself, why not give this shot another go and why not take a look at the favorite Pokemon of each type?! Doesn’t that sound fun?… Well regardless, I’m ready to deal with all the backlash and variety of differing comments this post will bring. So let’s do this! This is the Most Popular Pokemon of Each type!
Now, to set a few quick ground rules. This list IS NOT about the most powerful Pokemon or the best Pokemon for a given situation. This is about the Pokemon from each type with enough zeitgeist to carry a powerful calling. I will also include a large number of runner ups who came close to taking it but just barely inched it out. Finally, in order to be in the running for a type, the Pokemon must have the “type” as their PRIMARY type. In order to create fairness to all Pokemon, if a Pokemon is listed as Fire/Fighting, they will be judged in the Fire category and NOT in the flying category. I promise that this is going to be the last Pokemon Go article! I know, I have become a bit of a fanboy these past couple of days over the mobile game. But I truly do love the experience and there is plenty to write and to talk about. So I decided today to make a little list of the 151 Pokemon condensed into six categories and rank them based on whether or not they have been awesome stars of the game… or if they are destined to dwell in your Pokemon box for the rest of forever until you transfer them. This is the Stars and Busts of Pokemon Go.
Now, please keep in mind, that I am using this as a blanket term but there are certainly exceptions in this world. If you have a level 2343853 Nidoking and I say Nidokings, on the whole, are not great, your one awesome Nidoking does not necessarily throw off the curve. This is an observation of the game on the whole. With that said, let’s get started. Continue reading “The Stars and Busts of Pokemon Go”
Even though the Nerdiest Talk Show on Earth has made a permanent move to Project Derailed, I thought I would add this one to Tanner Reviews to remind everyone that the switch has become permanent.
So, I have to admit that this weekend has been dedicated to playing Pokemon Go and nothing else has fallen into place for that. So I thought I would write a brief follow up of my experience with Pokemon Go and some problems that have come up since playing.
Overall, the game is fucking incredible. There is an attention to detail on where Pokemon spawn that really didn’t need to go into a game. It has also got a lot of people to go out and exercise as well interact with others who are playing the game as well. There are a few problems. The crashing servers have become notorious at this point and the fact that the gyms are a pain in the ass even if you have a great data coverage. There are constant moments of people being kicked out of gyms after they have won and not being able to battle at all. But those negatives aside, it is an excellent experience that I recommend everyone try out if you are a fan of video games and Pokemon.
