So, considering the fact that I have finally decided to write the 100 Greatest Movies of All Time… Which is coming soon… I decided to revisit one of my favorite posts of all time: My Favorite Movies of All Time. Here is the thing, opinions change, ideas change, and ultimately my tastes have changed. Some movies have become more prevelent in my mind. Some… Some have fallen off the board altogether. When I originally created my Top 25 list… I completely snubbed a few of my favorite movies due to good ole fashion forgetfulness. As such, movies like Die Hard and Reservoir Dogs have made and rectified the list. So with that said, please enjoy my Top 25 FAVORITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME!
Shaun of the Dead
The Lion King
Strangers on a Train
The Dark Knight
La Finestra di Fronte
Howl’s Moving Castle
The Guardians of the Galaxy Continue reading “Tanner’s Revised Top 25 Favorite Movie of All Time”
Ah! I finally got to see it! I have been looking forward to this one for a number of reasons. My first reason is because Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies of all time. I adore Ghostbusters! It is my childhood with some of my favorite actors of all time and one of my favorite directors of all time. It is, without a doubt, a perfect movie. So when I heard that the Ghostbusters remake was coming out I was hoping that it could capture just a little bit of the magic that the original created for future generations to become hooked and watched the original as well. Second, I wanted to see a movie that could show the legacy of Harold Ramis, an amazing human being who tragically passed away a few years ago. Third, I was wondering how the movie would work after the abysmal trailer that was released earlier in the year. Fourth, I was hoping that the movie was going to be good just to shut a lot of people up who take remakes far too personally. Don’t get me wrong, I can be someone calling for movies to be left alone as much as the next guy. But I am not one who is going to dismiss a movie as trash before even seeing the movie in the first place. After seeing the movie, I have to say that I am glad to say that this was one of the best movies I have seen so far in 2016. Continue reading “Tanner Reviews Ghostbusters (2016)”
Well wasn’t this a pleasant surprise? I was expecting to post 12-1 of my Top 25 Favorite Movies of All Time, but with my girlfriend’s surprise visit we went to see the latest Neill Blomkamp movie Chappie and so I will be reviewing it today instead. Look for 12-1 of my Top 25 Favorite Movies of All Time on Tuesday, a new episode of The Nerdiest Talk Show on Earth Saturday, and a video game for Retro Gaming Month on Sunday. With all of the site updates out of the way, let’s talk about Chappie.
I have to say that this was not what I was expecting. Granted, I should have expected such a dark tale from the likes of Blomkamp, but I was expecting a somewhat family oriented adventure. Instead what we got was a handful of strong homages to Robocop and Natural Born Killers mixed in with a story of nature vs. nurture. Very interesting if somewhat unexpected. I do have to say that I feel like Chappie is going to go the way of Elysium as the years go on… It is going to be a very underrated movie that will be completely overshadowed by Blomkamp’s magnum opus, District 9.
