This was… Interesting? I guess that is a good word for it. It certainly wasn’t a terrible experience. It was short and just kind of… there, I suppose. Please Don’t Touch Anything is one of the more experimental indie games out there on the market that attempts to challenge the preconceived notions of a video game to build a somewhat simplistic but enjoyable video game experience. Basically, you take on the role of person X who is watching a control panel for his friend who just went to the bathroom. Your job is to not touch anything. However, that would defeat the whole purpose of the game… So you start touching things. This could lead to a whole series of wacky events. Well this was a waste of time. For those of you unaware, I had to make a trip out of town this weekend and as such I did not get a chance to churn out a great idea for a post. So basically, I decided to spend a few hours watching a video game on YouTube and giving my general thoughts on it for your reading pleasure. So… I decided to watch one of the newest games to come out, Homefront the Revolution… Well I wasted two hours of my life that I will never get back. I’ll be honest here, this seems like one of the most pointless sequels that I have ever seen. I cannot think of a single person who was asking for this game. Even fans of the quickly dying realistic FPS genre didn’t like the first game which was also a piece of shit. But here we are… starring at a reimagining of the original game and just from my personal experience, I truly hope the makers of this game at least got their money back just so it wasn’t a complete waste of their time as well. So yesterday, I and Twitch Streamer Jate Nott of Nott in My House played a long haul of the new video game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. To all of those who stopped in to give us a watch, thank you very much and please support Mr. Nott in his future streams. He is a good friend of mine and an entertaining streamer. In preparation for the game, I decided to do some research… And by research, I mean look at Wikipedia. From what I have seen, this game has been turning heads left and right. Not to mention, receiving copious amounts of perfect scores by many critics. Due to the fact that a lot of critics are bought off by big corporations, I did reserve a little bit of judgment when I saw this. But, like all things, I sifted through the bullshit to find out what people were really saying, and that is that this game is very good.
So after giving it a play, I have to say… Yes… This game is very good. It is most certainly a strong game and a beautiful one at that. Unlike games like Watch Dogs, Destiny, The Order 1886, and so forth that have largely disappointed the consuming masses, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt finds itself at the good games table… A surprisingly bare table when it comes to Next Gen Triple A titles. Along with Shadows of Mordor and Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is truly a game that shines. It is certainly a game that will be in contention for Best Game of 2015… But does it deserve the massive praise that it is receiving? Well let’s take a look. So seeing as how I am moving on Saturday and my wonderful girlfriend has come down to help me, I am a little pressed for time. I decided to go with a lighthearted and fun romp for my Thursday review. So, is it story time with Uncle Tanner? Yes… It is story time with Uncle Tanner. A while back I was sitting in my room, Skyping my girlfriend like any normal day. When suddenly she told me that I needed to play a game. I looked at my Facebook PMs and sure enough there was a link to First Person Lover. I had no idea what it was and Kitty did not tell me a single thing about the game. It wasn’t until recently that I was able to play the game, mainly due to the fact that I couldn’t play the game on Google Chrome so I had to wait until Kitty came around with Firefox so I could give it a go… Boy was I surprised at what I witnessed. I have seen a lot of things in video gaming… But this takes the taco. Continue reading “Tanner Reviews First Person Lover”
It is that time of the year again. 2014 is coming to a close and 2015 is just on the horizon. With that comes a whole new list of video games and movies for me to watch. 2014 has been a year of tops and turns for me. But just like 2013 I feel like as we come to an end, it would be a great idea to give a handful of mini reviews of video games and movies from 2014 just to get as many out there as possible for the best and worst of 2014 (that I personally reviewed. So with that being said I will be looking at 2 movies and 2 video games tonight. We have a lot of reviewing to do so let’s get to it! We can talk about the awesome perks of having a wonderful girlfriend who owns a Xbox One later, but one of the bigger ones that is pertinent today is if you run a review site like me that reviews video games, then you get to see some of these games without going through the hassle of buying a next gen console. But either way, on to the subject of today. One of said girlfriend’s favorite game series is Dragon Age, a game that I never really got into. The reason for this is the same reason I didn’t get really into Mass Effect when it first came out… I just didn’t feel like picking it up. One of those things that is always in the back of your mind, that game that you REALLY want to play but just find other things to occupy your time on your way to the grave and by the time you do play it, it is way past the point of relevancy.
But since she was a big fan of it, I decided to get the crash course from her personally which all lead to Dragon Age Inquisition. After hearing about it I had to say, where has this game been all my life?! I love me some good action fantasy stories and Dragon Age for me as me hooked just the same way Elder Scrolls has hooked me in the past. Out of all the next gen games I have had the chance to either see or play first hand, I have to say that FINALLY we have a game that looks and feels like it needs to be played with the next generation of consoles. Unlike Watch Dogs, Dead Rising 3, Far Cry 4, Killzone Shadowfall, Sunset Overdrive, and countless others that fall into the category of massive pants shitting disappointment, Dragon Age Inquisition is the first game I have seen that has delivered genuine enjoyment. Damn it! Fucking damn it! This game! This fucking game! Jesus tap dancing Christ this game is fucking terrifying and for something so simplistic is executed masterfully. How in the hell did this game do it? I have no idea. You take a concept so simple and make it absolutely horrifying… I love it! I absolutely love it! I love every single second of it. Five Nights at Freddy’s needs to be taught in college classes on how to appropriately build suspense and to use jump scares as they are intended to be used. This game is an absolute modern marvel and one of the best damn games that I have played in recent years and I mean that with absolutely no hyperbole. Five Nights at Freddy’s is something that everyone should experience and you can for the low price of $4.99 on Steam! Continue reading “Tanner Reviews Five Nights at Freddy’s”
