Top 15 Biggest Pro Wrestling Busts from USA Promotions

Let’s just be honest, busts are just a sad fact of sports and pro wrestling is no exception. There are guys that are slated for big and great things. They are given all the tools, all the opportunities, and all the chances… And yet they end up fading into obscurity instead of becoming the next Stone Cold Steve Austin or John Cena. This list is to commemorate fifteen of those people who was handed the world and quickly fumbled it. This is the Top 15 Busts in US Pro Wrestling!

NOW! I do have some rules on this list. First and foremost, this will NOT just encompass WWE, but other promotions in the USA. Second, I am excluding people on this list who had terrible runs with promotions, but had otherwise stellar careers. As such, people like Dr. Death Steve Williams, Kevin Nash under his Diesel run, Scott Steiner, Vader, and so forth will not be included on this list. Nor am I including those on this list who have had a career resurgence such as Drew McIntyre Galloway. With that being said, here are three honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions

Tank Abbott: Tank Abbott makes an honorable mention due to the fact that he was slated, during the height of Russo WCW, to be WCW Champion. This did not happen and he ended up with a silly boy band love gimmick. The reason he just misses the list… Because unlike others on this list that felt like wasted potential… We all knew Tank Abbott was not World Champion material and he was only potentially pushed hard because Russo was running the show.

Rene Dupree: Rene Dupree had it all going for him. He was the youngest champion in the WWE, claiming the Tag Team belt with Sylvan Granier at 19. He had a great physique, and had charisma. However, back stage politics and a bad attitude derailed him and his career never truly recovered. The reason he remains an honorable mention is because he was not pushed as heavy as some on this list.

Chris Sabin: This one is a tragedy as I love Chris Sabin. He is a great wrestler. But he was the unfortunate recipient of TNA pushes in their painful years that tried to make Sabin a star overnight… That tragically was not even remotely successful. Chris Sabin stays off the list because he still has a chance to salvage a little bit of his career and show off more of what he can do. Top 20 Most Overrated Wrestlers of All Time

oI am ready for the hate I am about to receive for this list. There are a number of wrestlers, both past and present, who receive WAY TOO MUCH adoration and praise from the fans for being sub par athletes, sub par on the mic, or are just plain dull. So this list is going to include 20 wrestlers and a few honorable mention who have received more praise then they deserve over the years. This is the Top 20 Most Overrated Wrestlers of All Time.

I should also state that this list will include wrestlers outside of the WWE sphere. While the primary focus is on WWE, WCW, and ECW talent due to the fact that this is a US centric list, you will also find wrestlers from NJPW, AAA, NWA, and so forth. With that said, I’m ready to prepare for the hate! Let’s get to some dishonorable mentions. Continue reading “Top 20 Most Overrated Wrestlers of All Time”

The Best and Worst WCW Champions of All Time

20120217_WCW_WorldtitleSo with the end of the 2015 HvZ:Athens Spring Invitational, I am currently in the come down phase of the adrenaline rush and my body and mind are absolutely dead. With that being said, I just do not have the energy to sit through another exploitation movie to review, so I am going to do an easy list featuring professional wrestling once again. Surprisingly enough, the WCW World Championship was one of the easiest to list.

Out of all the wrestlers who held the belt, almost all of them either fit into the excellent category and the rest fit into the horrific piles of dog shit category. After putting them into their two categories, it was just a matter of finding a place for them. The WCW Championship was a belt that found itself either in the hands of someone who dragged its prestige to the depths of the abyss, while at the same time having the next wrestler bring it back up to its former glory. So with that being said, we are going to look at the Top 5 Best and Worst WCW Champions of all time! Continue reading “The Best and Worst WCW Champions of All Time”

Best and Worst WCW Cruiserweight Champions of All Time

wcwcwBefore we go forward, I should preface this list with the fact that I am not going to be covering ALL the belts that were featured in WCW and ECW. As a matter of fact, I will only be looking at the championships as well as a few other choice belts that I feel need to be covered. I also will not be covering the secondary titles in WCW and ECW because I feel that secondary titles are meant to enhance talent to the next stage which is of course the Championship and since both belts are now defunked, the secondary titles prestige and lineage are somewhat moot.

After saying that, I would like to cover the championship belt from WCW that was every bit as prestigious and important as the WCW Championship was back in the day. No joke when I was watching wrestling as a kid, I typically saw the person holding the Cruiserweight championship as the true champion of WCW instead of the slow plodding old guys that dominated the World title scene. I would take 1 Ultimo Dragon and Chris Jericho over 10000 geriatric Hulk Hogans and slow and awkward Kevin Nashs. The Cruiserweight division was just more fun and it had athletes who were small, quick, and excellent wrestlers. I am very much happy that it is people who found their home in this division that are now seen as the true World Champions instead of slow fat guys smacking each other. So of course when I talk about former WCW Championships, this one is easily the first that comes to mind. So here is the Top 5 Best and Worst WCW Cruiserweight Champions.

Keep in mind as always that this is my personal opinion based on the title reign’s impact on the championship and the wrestler. If you have a different opinion please add a comment and we will debate. With that said, we start with the worst. Continue reading “Best and Worst WCW Cruiserweight Champions of All Time”
